In Japan, approximately 450 schools are closed each year. Once students are gone, the buildings rapidly deteriorate, and before long, demolition becomes inevitable. However, many of these school buildings hold precious memories for the local communities. We often hear people say they don’t want the buildings torn down and that, if possible, they would like them to be used as schools again.
Culture Crossing Campus introduces closed schools across the country and acts as a mediator to connect them with individuals or organizations interested in repurposing them.
