Support for the Operation of Japanese Language Schools

In 2024, a new law came into effect: the Act on the Certification of Japanese Language Education Institutions to Ensure Proper and Reliable Japanese Language Education. Under this legislation, all Japanese language schools that accept international students are now required to obtain official certification from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The certification criteria are strict. In the two certification rounds held in FY2024, only 41 out of 120 applicant institutions were approved—an acceptance rate of just 34%.

At Culture Crossing Campus (General Incorporated Association), we have closely examined the certification standards, which are based on the JF Standard for Japanese-Language Education. We are committed to providing professional guidance and support to institutions planning to apply for certification in the future.
